The Last Knight of Camelot - PrologueAugust 1915 – Gallipoli
Explosions rang out around him, rapid gun fire sounded from all sides.
“Medic, we need a medic over here!” a voice called out frantically. “Help me, please.” The young army doctor slid through the mud in the bottom of the trench as he reached the trio of soldiers. They towered above the young boy as he began assessing the damage. He ran a hand through his raven hair and looked up at the two soldiers, young men, obviously scared. They knew nothing of war, but the medic had seen more than anyone else, more than anyone would believe and it was written in his tired blue eyes.

At the sound of his voice, several people stopped, but one of the guards and two of the others, both men of middle age, continued jabbing at the dragon. With no thought for the repercussions, Merlin lashed out, creating a shield around the young dragon and pushing the men back.
He repeated his words, but this time, his voice was low, filled with contempt.

She had seen how tired he was, but had realised that he was far too stubborn to listen to her. Hence her leaving him to do whatever he had to do. Now she was back, and he would damn well listen to her.

That plan went out of the window as she entered the room and saw Merlin, slumped across the table, hair dishevelled, clothes looking worse for wear, and completely dead to the world. Gaius was stood directly behind her, unable, like her, to understand what was happening. Gwen’s gaze turned to Merlin, still coated in Gwaine’s blood. The emotion in her eyes changed from shock, to disbelief, then to fear as it dawned on her.

Monday MorningIt was 2 months since the storm hawks had returned from the far side, and Master Cyclonis's defeat. The celebrations had been grand at the squadron's return, the festivities lasted for a week (at least). But no celebration was greater than a certain shy night's proposal to a certain crystal mage. This event took place the morning after Aerrow proposed.

The dawn was spectacular this morning. Everything was peaceful and still. The sun's gentle rays shone on the Condor as it flew through Atmos's skies. As the skimmer with another fighter on it swooped low, he leapt. The light illuminating him and the boy squinted as he watched the figure fly over him.
